Catch of the Day: Scalia Says You Had to Be There

October 11, 2011

Recently, there’s been some agitation for a new reality show. Kenneth W. Starr is leading the charge for the U.S. Supreme Court to open up the high court to video cameras in the name of transparency. Get ready for the premiere of Under the Robes, where the judges give you a rose instead of a majority opinion in your favor!

Except that Justice Scalia is holding out for higher pay, better benefits, or… worthy citizens? Scalia says, “The justification usually put forward is, we want to educate the American people about what the Court is and whatnot. Now if I really thought the American people would get educated, I’d be all for it.” Except he doesn’t, so he’s not, and Breyer’s with him.
